Classroom AV

All general use classrooms at UVic have an AV system with a computer, HDMI input, projector and speakers. Your department office will give you the key to unlock and turn on the AV system.

Before your class starts:

  • look up your classroom in the room directory
  • skim the AV guide for the type of classroom you're using
  • get an AV key from your department office
  • schedule a demo with an AV technician to try it out and get basic training
  • learn about the AV support that's available when you're teaching

During your class:

Get help

Most of your support for UVic's IT apps and services will come from 3 places:

University Systems

University Systems is your point of contact for technical support for anything else, like your UVic account, Wi-Fi, VPN and email.

LTSI

Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation (LTSI) provides support for UVic's teaching technologies like Brightspace, Crowdmark and Zoom. is LTSI's online resource hub.

Your department office

Contact your department admin staff:

  • to get your AV key
  • for non-technical information, like course scheduling and appointment paperwork

You'll probably be your students' first point of contact for issues with Brightspace and other technologies you use in your course. Remember that UVic's supports are here for them, too.

  • If a student is having a problem with teaching and learning technologies that you can't solve, contact LTSI for help. They can do in-depth troubleshooting.
  • If a student is having trouble with their own devices or other IT systems (like Wi-Fi or Microsoft 365), refer them to IT support. We can usually help them best if we're in direct contact with them.
