Go to the student services tab in online tools to access your UVic records, registration, tools and web apps.
Find tech on campus
These are all general use tools and spaces available to all UVic students. Many academic departments have their own facilities for their students to use.

Technology requirements
Some programs and courses have more specific requirements. The has its own recommendations.
Computers and tablets
You should have at least one desktop, laptop or tablet you can use for coursework and meetings:
- a laptop or desktop computer running Windows 11
- a Mac running macOS Ventura (13) or higher
- an iPad running the latest version of iPadOS

If you use a Chromebook or a device that only supports an older operating system, you might not be able to use the software required for your courses on it. Computer labs are available for software that won't run on your personal device.
Peripherals
To take part in online courses and meetings, you should also have:
- webcam
- microphone
- speakers
- a USB headset
Most laptops and tablets have a camera, mic, and speakers built in. You might need to buy them separately for desktop computers.
MFA authenticator devices
We recommend an smartphone capable of running or . You can also use a Duo hardware token, TOTP authenticator app, or certain laptops with biometric devices. Visit multi-factor authentication to learn more.
Internet access
You'll need high-speed Internet access at home with a minimum download speed of 5 MBps. Virtually all residential Internet plans available in Greater Victoria meet this, but you might have issues studying remotely from rural areas in BC.
Leaving UVic
After you graduate or stop taking courses, you'll be able to use the UVic website to view your records, order transcripts, and update your contact info. You'll lose access to all other UVic IT services including Wi-Fi, Microsoft 365, UVic email and Zoom, along with any data you have saved in them. You'll have 1 month to transfer important documents, email messages and contacts to a personal device, OneDrive account or whatever you use for personal storage.
