About Digital Learning Environment & Support
Digital Learning Environment & Support (DLES) provides technical support to the UVic community. Our team:
- Can solve problems with, answer questions about, and provide access to IT systems at UVic
- Supports classes and events across the campus by providing equipment, expertise, and on-site support
- Is your point of contact for IT at UVic. If you don’t know who to ask, we will route your request to the experts who can help.
Computer Help Desk (CHD)
We’re the first point of contact for the UVic community’s technical issues. From passphrase resets to network outages, we can help. Our team:
- Provides help at our front counters, via phone and email, and even remotely using a variety of support tools
- Routes any request for IT support to the most appropriate resource to help
- Is staffed by UVic students located on the Gordon Head campus who are familiar with our users, our IT systems, and UVic
Media Services (AV)
We provide audiovisual (AV) support for teaching, campus events and videoconferencing at UVic. Our team provides:
- urgent classroom AV assistance
- event support and media production services
- dedicated video conference rooms
Technology Solutions Centre (TSC)
We help the campus to acquire IT systems and technology. Our team:
- Can answer questions about technical approval and how to acquire technology
- Obtain quotes for hardware and software through existing vendor relationships with UVic
- Help you order technology standards
- Facilitate the repair of UVic equipment
Digital Community
We build and maintain partnerships with the campus to coordinate training, communications, and change management support for IT services. Our team:
- Provides technical training support for new service launches and technical projects
- Collaborates with other departments on online training courses
- Creates accessible technical support information for our websites
- Supports technical communities of practice
Computer labs
We support student-use computers on campus. This includes computer classrooms, student drop-in areas and special-use computer labs. Our team is responsible for:
- installing software used for teaching and learning
- creating a secure computing experience for users
- maintaining computer lab equipment and spaces
