Websites
University Systems works with University Communications and Marketing (UCAM) to support official UVic websites. They're hosted on UVic.ca and managed using Cascade.
We also have options for websites that aren't a good fit for the official website including internal websites, personal websites, and academic websites.
Official sites
Official websites on UVic.ca
UVic's official websites are hosted on UVic.ca. Each department manages their own websites using Cascade CMS and UVic's custom web template. UCAM and University Systems provide support.
Internal sites
Microsoft 365 has tools for building and hosting web pages that are ideal for internal (intranet) sites.
SharePoint
You can use SharePoint to built intranet sites without coding. At their most permissive, SharePoint sites can be made available to all UVic students and employees. Making a public Internet site isn't possible.
Google Sway
Microsoft Sway, a free Microsoft 365 app, is designed to make and share one-page websites, newsletters and presentations.
Personal sites
Any website you host at UVic will be deleted when you graduate or leave UVic. If you want to build a personal site or portfolio that you can maintain throughout your career, you might want to use a commercial web hosting service instead.
