About Information Security Office
The Information Security Office (InfoSec) is a team within University Systems focused on keeping UVic's digital campus secure. Our team is responsible for:
- coordinating and managing UVic's information security program
- implementing procedures to minimize privacy and security risks
- responding to security incidents
- providing guidance through security reviews

Information security primarily focuses on technology. Policies, standards and procedures are designed to create a secure and reliable digital campus to support learning, teaching and research. We're constantly updating our processes, improving our tools and increasing our knowledge to stay ahead of the everchanging cybersecurity landscape.
But our job isn't just about protecting data and computer systems. It's about protecting the people who use them.
In our work, we strive to put people first. We endeavour to:
- respond to cybersecurity incidents with understanding and compassion
- design security controls to minimize impact to users
- prioritize accessibility and user experience when implementing new services
- foster a positive security culture at UVic
